Balance Lifestyle Fitness- An Excellent Option

Leave a comment Standard

I thought it was a smart decision to sign up with Fitness First, but after few months of being a member, I really feel that it wasn’t worth it.  I would like to make it crystal clear that it’s not the club’s fault– it was MY FAULT for having that impulse decision.  First of all, though the rate is reasonable enough (@ Php 2,300 per month), I couldn’t manage to have that unlimited session since I am a very busy person, and I’m also struggling to make it at least once per month so it’s just a waste of money!

If only I have gotten the reply from The Balance Lifestyle Fitness Club earlier, I wouldn’t have come up with this decision.  I inquired online before I signed up for Fitness First, but I got no reply so I took the opportunity to visit the club before my press trip that day.  Oh well, the only thing that I can do is to head there if I have the time so I could make use of what I paid for.

Yesterday, I inquired in their website again, and I was surprised to hear from Mr, Arem Ignacio, the club’s Lifestyle Supervisor.  He sent me the rates via email and if I will compare, the rates are the same in Fitness First if you will be a walk-in guest.  For P500 per visit, you can use the gym and their wet area including the sauna room, steam bath room and the jacuzzi.  Aside from that, you can also use their swimming pool.

The jacuzzi

This is what I’m looking for in a fitness club– a jacuzzi wherein I could enjoy the warm water.  That is not available in other fitness clubs.

balance lifestyle receptionists

The downside in choosing crowded fitness clubs like Fitness First is that they have too many clients to give you some time (though if you approach the trainers, they will assist you).  In my experience in our staycation in Discovery Suites last October 2017, I was spoiled by the two receptionists.  I wasn’t able to use the workout machines because I forgot to bring my rubber shoes, but they suggested that I should use their wet area.  They assisted me from the time I put my things in the locker and served as my human timer.  After 15-20 minutes, they come to me and inform me that it’s time to go to sauna and steam bath area as they know that I had to be in the photoshoot at the Serendipity Lounge on time.

Next time when I get back, I will use their modern workout equipments/machines (as what I have told Mr. Ignacio, I would just drop by as a walk-in guest because I still have an existing contract with Fitness First for 18 months.  After sweating out, I will head to the wet area.

The lockers are modern as well.  No need for old-style keys, you just use the bracelet with sensor and presto— the locker door will open.

At Balance Lifestyle Fitness Club, there are also toiletries that the guests and club members can use.  I was impressed!  The shower rooms are also clean.

slippers balance

There are also pair of slippers that you can borrow while you are in the female’s area.

What I like from this is that you can take a swim first before heading to the fitness club.  Of course, with the same rate of P500, I would go for Balance Lifestyle Fitness Club.  There, you are not locked in a contract.  You may choose to be a walk-in guest or a club member (monthly, quarterly or semi-annual or annual package).  For busy persons like me, I would suggest to just avail the walk-in rate.

I am still super busy but I know I will be back soon and I am looking forward to that pleasant experience again.

My Fitness Club Experience @ Discovery Suites

Fitness club receptionists

The pretty receptionists

One of my planned activities in my stay in Discovery Suites is to use their fitness center.  It’s a good thing I have managed to squeeze the time for that before we have our photoshoot in Serendipity Lounge.  Because I was focused with our photoshoot and  wedding anniversary, I forgot to bring rubber shoes that’s why I wasn’t able to use their equipments.  The receptionists (Joyce and Hannah) were very friendly and courteous, that they have convinced me to stay and use their jacuzzi and sauna instead.  The rate for walk-ins is P500, but you can use for free if you are staying in the hotel.

Hubby used the equipments (all of them are working).  If you go to other fitness centers, most of their equipments are not working anymore.  Anyway, I went back to our suite to get a swimwear and they assisted me profesionally.

The club is very clean and organized.  I was given my locker wherein I can place my important belongings while I’m relaxing.  I must say that it’s al worth every penny. When you are actually there, you don’t want to leave anymore.  Too bad, I only got to stay there for less than an hour.  I gave Joyce and Hannah instructions that I will use the jacuzzi for only 20 minutes and Hannah came back at the exact time 🙂

The jacuzzi was my favorite.  I wanted it hot because it was really cold that morning.  When Hannah finally came to remind me that I had to go to the steam room, I was really thankful because I don’t have to remind them anymore.  After 10 minutes in the steam room, Hannah came back and led me to the Sauna room.

If only distance won’t be a problem, I will definitely choose this club but then I had to choose one which is near to our place.

I highly recommend this fitness club to Pasig or Mandaluyong residents.  Believe me, it’s worth every penny 🙂

Happy Tummy: Breakfast Buffet @ Discovery Suites

Part of our stay in Discovery Suites include the free buffet breakfast for 4 adults.  Since I brought my daughter with us, I paid half of the buffet price which is P400+.  We were able to go to Restaurant 5 at about past 6am and there were Koreans already for the breakfast.   They are strict with the dress code– smart casual attire only and no casual shorts or sleeveless are alowed since that is a business hotel.

I have taken photos of their foods served for breakfast.  There were variety of foods to choose from and I was quite pleased with my experience on that day.

Of course the kids went to the cereals station and chose their favorite chocolate cereals 🙂

I cannot skip chicken if ever there is any in the buffet.  I only have gotten few pieces because I would like to try the other dishes as well.

I’ve tried the hash brown potatoes and they were tasty.

I know I’m in a diet (It just doesn’t look that I am since I am still not in shape, hehehe).  I couldn’t have breakfast also without having fried rice in my plate, but I only had 1 cup to be safe.

I love pasta but there’s something with pesto sauce that I didn’t like– too salty.

I also had a slice of vegetable pizza and it was so yummy.

I had a bowl of egg drop soup and it was good.  Usually, if I do not like the soup, I don’t get to finish it, but not this time 🙂

The kids had a glass each of Dalandan Juice.  As much as I would like to have a glass of juice also, I already had a cup of hot chocolate.

I had a carrot cake– I forgot to get a piece of cinnamon roll.  I wanted to have a slice of bread and butter spread but I might overeat, hehe!

Hubby enjoyed the fresh fruits.

We all visited the egg station.  My son Kyle requested for sunny side-up, my daughter and I had scrambled eggs and hubby had the omelette.

My breakfast

To sum up my tummy’s experience at Restaurant 5. I will give a 4.5 out of 5 stars.  Yes, I did enjoy the buffet breakfast.  I just didn’t eat much 🙂

A Private Dinner: Review of 22 Prime

Leave a comment Standard

Last Monday, we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary in Discovery Suites Manila.  I have arranged to have our dinner inside our suite instead of having it in 22 Prime where it is crowded as usual.  Also, we need privacy and we won’t feel at ease to have our photoshoot with many people watching.  I am really thankful to the management who extended their assistance to us in this special event; however, I have to share my thoughts about dinner.

I requested for a set-up in our suite because of privacy issues– I was informed that it will be charged P1,000 for this.  I agreed–thinking that it would be something really romantic like seeing the candle-lit table and other decorations.  I was surprised to find out that they just placed a tablecloth and nothing more… Honestly, I felt like we paid too much for the service.  Then, the foods were served.  Mr. Albert Fernandez, the F&B manager, even went to our suite and explained to me everything about our dinner.  He was very polite and professional while we were  there even in our email conversations.

Wagyu Sirloin Steak

I ordered Wagyu Sirloin Steak for hubby- (P1413.24 net).  While I was taking a shower earlier, a staff from 22Prime called to ask if he wanted it to have medium done or well done. He preferred to have it medium done and according to him, it tasted good:-)  I couldn’t say anything about the steak because I don’t eat meat (except chicken and burger patty).

img_1667-1

Roasted Airline Chicken

For myself, I ordered Roasted Airline Chicken (P1076.24 net).  It was just okay– nothing really special about the taste, but the chicken meat was soft.  I liked the mushrooms and the vegetables though.

img_1675

Lobster Truffle Mac & Cheese

I included Lobster Truffle Mac & Cheese (P462.02 net) in our dinner because I love pasta.  For this, I will give them thumbs up.  I super looooove the cheesy pasta and the noodles were cooked al dente. I must say of all the foods that we ordered, only this one deserves its price.

img_1672-1

Garlic Roasted Potatoes

The Garlic Roasted Potatoes (P315.96 net) only looks appetizing.  I was looking for the garlic taste but it was bland  😦

img_1679

Chocolate Goddess for Dessert

For dessert, I chose Chocolate Goddess (P380 net).  I loved the taste of the chocolate and berries, but I wasn’t able to eat much because I was already full at that time.  Being a chocolate lover, i must say that it was divine.  It’s just that the serving was too small that makes it overpriced.

img_1671-1

The last in my list is the Strawberry Mango Iced Tea (P489.20 net for 1 pitcher).  I didn’t order wine because I do not want to get dizzy and we still have to shoot for the anniversary video (winks).  That was refreshing and even the kids enjoyed the drink.

Overall, it was okay, but it could have been better if only they made it more romantic.  I will still recommend 22 Prime especially to those who go for fine dining.

Long Weekend Thoughts

Leave a comment Standard

Yay!  And so, we got this loooooong weekend because of the two-day transport strike, but to tell you honestly, a part of me is quite unhappy with it because we have a lot of catching up to do in school.  That is the reason why I didn’t take advantage of this to travel or bond with my family.  My idea of a perfect staycation or holiday is when you don’t think about work when you are already there; otherwise, your day will be totally spoiled.

We still have until Friday to have our performance task in my English 8 classes.  Aside from that, we also have to review for the upcoming 2nd Quarter Examinations and I haven’t given the students their summative test yet.  I still don’t have any idea if there will be changes with the activities and schedule– whatever they will come up with, I am just here to guide and support the kids in school.  Next week, we will be having our inset and I am looking forward to finish all of my tasks so I can finally take a break and enjoy.

This coming October 30, 2017, my hubby and I, together with my two kids, will be having a staycation is Discovery Suites Ortigas.   Every 30th of October, we celebrate our wedding annivesary in a nearby hotel to unwind and celebrate the number of years that we are together as a couple.    This year though will be a bit different and I am hoping that everything will go perfectly as planned with the help of the Discovery Suites staff.  Our 15th wedding anniversary special will be posted in my Intagram, Twitter and Facebook account.  This is just the beginning because a lot of surprises is still in store for TBIP in 2018.  Watch out for my review of Discovery Suites here and in Tripadvisor 🙂
