Baguio Trip 2017 Day 1

Leave a comment Standard

Because we wanted to make the most of our trip to Baguio, I have carefully planned about our 4-day itinerary.  I have booked in advance via Iwantseats, com for our Joy Bus Deluxe Bus (non-stop trip from Manila to Baguio) which makes the trip 4 to 5 hours only.

img_3587

We chose to leave at 3:30 am so we can get to Baguio at around 8:30 to 9 am, but since there was no traffic, we reached Baguio City at 7:30 am.  We headed to Microtel Baguio but unfortunately there was no available room at that time yet so we had to leave our luggages and go to other places.  I settled the payment first for 4d/3n stay and after getting my receipt and luggage claim stub, we left to enjoy our first day in the city of Pines.

We went to Burnham Park and as expected, we were awestruck by the beauty of nature.

The famous Strawberry Taho

img_3633

We were surprised to find out that plain taho costs P35 and plain taho is P25.  Honestly, there was nothing special with the taste and I find it overpriced.

We decided to proceed to Botanical Garden since there was a sudden change with my schedule.  We were having a hard time finding a cab, but after few minutes we were able to find one.  We had lunch first at The Garden Diner since it was already past 11am when we got there and we were planning to explore the area before we go back to the hotel to check in at 2pm.

The Garden Diner @ Botanical Garden

img_3645

That was catually my third time in the Diner and for the previous visits, we had iced delights but this time, we got to taste their food.

We were satisfied with the food and because we were already fueled up for the afternoon, we explored Botanical Garden.  It’s a must-visit place especially if you would just like to admire the beauty of nature.  Looking at the colorful flowers will make you feel relaxed and forget that you were exhausted.

Credits to my husband (Emmanuel G. Dedomo)  for this video.

It was already past 1pm when we got back to Microtel Inn.  I apologize because I do not have photos of the Queen beds room because we were dead-tired during that time and all we wanted to do is to lay down and rest for a while.  After an hour that seemed like eternity, I cancelled a visit to a cafe because we had difficulty in finding a ride.  It was almost 5pm when we finally got a ride to Camp John Hay.  We headed to the Filling Station and we were really starving but the place was jampacked with people.  We waited for the pizza for almost 40 minutes.  The next time you visit CJH I suggest you just bring your own food and eat at the picnic area instead.

It was past 6pm when I have reached Belfrei Spa in Ayala Technohub.  I was supposed to have their Belfrei Pamper Package, but since I was in a hurry, I settled for the Indulge Package instead (facial, foot spa and massage).  I totally forgot how exhausted I was because I felt relaxed that I fell asleep while we were having the combination of Swedish and Thai massage.  I’ve been to spas in different places but Belfrei Spa massage can be in the first spot (together with Tirta Spa Boracay).  You will find out more about this in my separate post about Belfrei Spa.

Belfrei Spa can be found at the 2nd floor of Ayala technohub (atop Pizza Volante).

After the relaxing Indulge Package that I had from Belfrei Spa, we went to Red Rustikz for dinner.

img_3833

My review of Red Rustikz will be in a separate post.  After dinner, we headed back to Microtel and had a good night sleep.

Note:  Honestly, we didn’t enjoy much of our first day because it was stressful on our part to find cabs.  Bring your car if you have so it won’t be much of a hassle or arrange for somebody to tour you around Baguio.  I enjoyed Burnham Park, Botanical Garden, The Graden Diner  and especially Belfrei Spa.  It’s only the transportation that made our Day 1 stressful.

Younger Look with Collagen Facial Mask

Leave a comment Standard

Collagen is known as an anti-aging agent.  The good news is that it is available in beauty shops, department store and grocery stores.  You can have it your beauty cream or moisturizer or even include it in your drinks.  Yes, we couln’t avoid age spots and wrinkles, but we can do something to look younger.

One way of doing that is also by destressing, and I have my twice per month session in Soulscape Spa Marcos Highway, Cainta, Rizal.   Part of my beauty routine is not only the body scrub– I also included the Collagen facial mask.  Here are the benefits that you will get from this treatment:

1.  It reduces age lines and wrinkles.

2.  It reduces stretch marks and even out your skin tone.

3.  It reduces joint pains.

4.  It strengthens your nails and teeth.

5.  It improves not only your skin, but also your hair.

6.  It helps detox your body.

After the Collagen Facial Mask, I had a different glow.  It won’t be evident yet because I only had my first session last week, but I intend to have it twice per month to achieve the youthful glow this coming summer.  You will see whatever improvement I have with my skin as I regularly publish my photos in my social media accounts.

Kojic Salt Body Scrub (Your Skin’s New BFF)

Leave a comment Standard

It’s holiday season and we wanted to look young and fresh–it’s the perfect time to destress and give yourself a break.  In my Christmas Glow feature, part of the treatment I had in Soulscape Spa & Wellness Lounge is the 90 minute Kojic Salt Body Scrub. I personally chose this because of its anti-aging and lightening effect on the skin.

Here are the reasons why I included BODY SCRUB  in my beauty routine:

  1.  It hydrates your skin, making your skin silky and smooth.
  2. It gives you a youthful glow
  3. It helps reduce stress
  4. It helps you get rid of old skin cells
  5. It releases toxins
  6. It improves blood circulation

There are three types of body scrub offered to me (coffee, cream and salt), but I settled for the Kojic Salt Body Scrub because my purpose that time is to have the Christmas glow.  Kojic Acid is known as an agent used to lighten and tighten skin, remove age spots and decrease the appearance of scars.  It exfoliates and regenerate new skin cells that help achieve that youthful glow (that is why it’s sometimes called the Anti-Aging Body Scrub).

For busy persons like me, I highly recommend that you should have at least twice per month destressing session like this or once a week if you can afford it.  Pampering yourself is one of the best gifts that you can give to your family— once you are stress-free, you can even work better and bond with them.

Christmas Glow Achieved!

Leave a comment Standard

I carefully planned about achieving this CHRISTMAS GLOW this holiday season.  Because you will be hopping from different Christmas parties, you need to look drop-dead gorgeous.  Part of achieving this is to have a destressing session and I had mine in Soulscape Spa & Wellness Center in Marcos Highway, Cainta.

img_3377

At the reception area

Let me share to you the package I created to achieve my Christmas Glow:

  1.  We had the Minty Peppermint Anti-Dandruff Hair Treatment.  It has a cooling effect on my scalp that helped me feel relaxed even during the body scrub treatment.   Not only it can prevent and reduce dandruff, it can also maintain your natural hair shine.  If you would like a better result, once a week treatment is advised– after all, it only costs P299.

2.  Next, I had the Kojic Salt Body Scrub (P799).  I have chosen this because of its anti-aging effect on the skin.  Of course, the youthful glow would really help me in looking good.  Having the Body Scrub treatment at least twice per month will help you reduce stress as well and at the same time, improve your blood circulation.

3.  After the Scrumptuous Body Scrub, I had the Collagen Face Mask (P299) Collagen is also popular for its anti-aging effect.  It helps your skin to be smoother and wrinkle-free.

4.  After the therapist rinsed my face, I had a hot shower in the VIP room and headed to the Sauna room.  I wanted to burn calories because I wasn’t able to visit the fitness club for a week now.

img_3420

The Sauna timer

While waiting for ten minutes, I had a glass of cold water.  Unfortunately, I forgot to use the cold towel after the sauna but it’s fine.

4.  I went back to the VIP room for the finale which is the  60-minute anti-stress massage (P599).  The whole body massage was so relaxing that I was able to go to sleep right away when I got home.

After the good sleep I had that night, the next morning I felt energized and I was in the perfect mood for a workout in the fitness club.

5.  After the workout, I headed to Nailaholics Nail Salon and Spa for my red and green Christmas nails and foot spa.

Ta-da!  After the destressing session and Vitamin Sea session, here I was before the Christmas Party 🙂   No need for heavy make up because I was confidently beautiful with my simple look.

A Tour To Soulscape Spa Marcos Highway

Leave a comment Standard

It was just recently when I noticed Soulscape Spa atop Anytime Fitness in the Pinnacle Plaza in Marcos Highway when I was on my way to Robinsons Metro East.  Finally, there is a spa near me that actually suits my taste.  Well, yes, there are lots of small and low-priced spa around, but make sure that you will be contented with the ambiance and of course, quality service is very important.

After the students’ Christmas Party held last December 20, 2017, I had the opportumity to destress at Soulscape Spa & Wellness Lounge.  Upon reaching the building, you will see the elevator that will lead you to the 3rd floor where they occupy the entire space.   I was greeted by their courteous receptionists Ella and Rose and as their routine, they asked me to fill out a form to determine if I have an allergy or other condition that might be harmful.  In other spas, they do not do this- so, it’s already a plus point.  They offered us tea while waiting and explained about their spa menu.

img_3361

The pretty receptionists Ella & Rose

While waiting, I couldn’t help but to admire the place (very neat and elegant interior design and furnishings).   I was actually thinking that only few people can afford Soulscape Spa, but this is good news because you can also afford their prices.  (You can check their prices in their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SoulscapeMarcosHighway/ )

Now, let us have the tour.

Before you enter the rooms, you will see the Footwash area and the Express area where they have the foot reflexology.

The footwash area

The Express area

They have two kinds of rooms- the common room and the VIP rooms.

The common room has partitions (black curtains) for single and couple clients.  The ambiance is perfect though you are in the common room– same bed and furnishings.  The only difference is that you only have curtains and you don’t have your own bathroom.

img_3415

The Sauna room

In the VIP room (there are rooms for couple and for 3 people), you have your own bathroom and of course, you will enjoy the privacy.

I had my destressing session (it will be featured in a separate post) in the VIP room.  I suggest that you choose this if you would like to relax and move at ease.

If you would like to visit them and try their services, here are their contact details below.  If you will be coming from Masinag, take a ride going to Robinsons Metro East.  Pinnacle Plaza is in the left side before you reach Burger King.   I also have included their branch in QC just in case you more accessible to that area.

Leave a comment Standard

It’s been a tradition for me to go to the City of Pines every year and probably it was blessing in disguise when we rescheduled our trip after Christmas due to the typhoon last August.  We were not able to refund the bus tickets, but thanks a lot to Microtel Baguio because they granted our request to rebook.

I have already experienced to go to Baguio City after Christmas and as expected, the places were jampacked with people.  It was very difficult for us to have taxi or private car rides. My Christmas To Do List 2017

Leave a comment Standard

It’s more than a week before Christmas and I can feel the Christmas rush.  To keep myself organized for the holidays, I’ve created my To Do List for Christmas 2017.

box blank1.  Shop for Christmas presents

Though I have already bought some presents for my family, I haven’t completed the list.  I would like to give something also for my 80 students 🙂

box blank2.  Achieve the Christmas Glow for the Christmas Party

This is the perfect time to have a break from all the stress and it’s time to pamper myself.  After attending my students’ Christmas Party on the 20th, I will head to Soulscape Spa & Wellness Lounge in Marcos Highway, Cainta for destressing session to achieve my Christmas glow.  (A separate article will be posted about this soon!)  My nails will be taken cared of Nailaholics Metro East Branch for my red and green pedicure.

box blank3.  Buy the rest of the food for Christmas Eve and Christmas day in the grocery.

I already have bought some but I haven’t completed it yet.  This afternoon, I might be able to complete it.  I will design low-calorie meals if that is possible, hehe 🙂

box blank4.  Shop for green shirts/dress for our family attire on Christmas Eve

We couldn’t wear red because our curtains are already red.  Green will be a good match for red for the colors of Christmas.

box blank5.  Organize and decorate our home for the upcoming Christmas celebration.

We already set up the Christmas tree loaded with ornaments and garlands.  We have also purchased the red curtains, but few things are still missing.  Let me have few days to do something about this.

box blank5.  Reward myself with a camera and powerbank for my blogging needs.

I will be needing those for my press trip to Baguio after Christmas for quality photos and uninterrupted posting through social media accounts.  I have already ordered a powerbank through Zalora and I am just waiting for it to be shipped.  As for the camera, i will see if I can get one (I will try to use the Home Credit).

box blank6.  Bond with my family on Christmas Day 🙂

I’m thinking if we will watch a movie or have another activity, but definitely I do not want to have a boring Christmas.

These are just few of the things I have in mind.  I will update this just in case I forgot something.  HAPPY HOLIDAYS, dear readers and may you be filled with blessings for the upcoming year!

Note:  There will be a post about the accomplished checklist.  Watch out for this soon!

Eyebrow Threading @ Nailaholics

Leave a comment Standard

So, you are thinking that Nailaholics Nail Salon & Spa is only limited to nail, hand and foot related services?  Well, you are absolutely WRONG!  In fact, there are packages and additional services that you won’t even think that they are offering.  I tried their eyebrow threading while having foot spa last week and I was very pleased with the result.

Before and After the Eyebrow Threading

Special thanks to Mian 🙂  She was very careful and patient with me.  She made sure that the pain was tolerable.  She consults first before making a decision and gives her suggestion also.  Threading of the brows costs P190 and it can be done in about 15 to 20 minutes.

Aside from their traditional hand and foot spa packages, here are other services that you might be interested with:

  1.  Waxing (underarm, half or full arm, chest or back, leg, bikini and Brazilian).  All of these services come with a choice of hand or foot spa.
     2. Scalp, Neck and Head Massage and Back Massage
    3.  Eyelash Enhancement

How to Deal With Stress

Leave a comment Standard

Everybody deals with STRESS  and nobody can escape it no matter what status do you have in life.  Whether that is family, health, work, financial or heart-related stress, you need to find a way to get over it.  So, how do we do that?  I have here some tips that actually worked for me .  It may not work for the others but it’s worth a try anyway 🙂

  1.  Have a COFFEE BREAK (alone or with a buddy)

If you cannot afford to go to a coffee shop, a cup of coffee with a special someone or your best buddy at home will be perfect to have a nice chitchat or share your troubles.

img_3223

2.  Have a GOOD SLEEP or power nap especially if you have a headache.

Most of the time, the cause of stress is lack of sleep so you really need the time to take a nap or have a long sleep.  I won’t recommend taking sleeping pills;  instead, you may drink a glass of milk.  Reading or playing games in your mobile phone may help you sleep.

3   Have a STAYCATION with friends or your family even for a day to help you unwind.  Traveling to a far place can cause you even more stress, so choose a nearby hotel.

img_3231

4.  DESTRESSING SESSION in a Spa or Wellness Center near you

A soothing massage, facial, body scrub and foot spa can be helpful to achieve relaxation.  One of the spas I recommend is Z Spa, a 420 square meter spa located in 2/F Ace Hotel, Kapitolyo, Pasig City.  All the furnishings and equipments are NEW and of high standard and the beauty products used are all naturals and were ordered abroad.  I have found another spa near our area but I will tell more about the details in my separate post.

img_2610

5.  CUT DOWN ON YOUR EXPENSES especially if you are dealing with financial problem.  (I am only going to choose 2 credit cards and will deactivate them once I have settled all my bills).

6.  HAVE A HEALTHY DIET and do not starve yourself.

If you need to destress, you need to have a healthy and strong body and sharp mind.  Refrain from eating too much or too less because your body needs food to have enough strength and energy for your daily activity.

Whether you like it or not, we can encounter STRESS, so it’s already an advantage if you know how to deal with it 🙂
